Sending email from your own domain

Configure the address your organisation's emails are sent from. By default, emails are sent from noreply@streamsapp.app so they work out of the box with no setup. To send from your own domain (e.g. hello@yourcompany.com), add it here and verify ownership by adding the DNS records to your domain's DNS provider.

Sending from the default address

  1. 1

By default, every organisation sends from noreply@streamsapp.app. The sender name is set to your organisation's name so recipients see "Your Organisation <noreply@streamsapp.app>".

  2. 2

If you've entered a custom from address but it isn't verified yet, replies go to that address via Reply-To so customer responses still reach you.

  3. 3

Emails sent from a record also carry a reply address that files the customer's reply onto that record. It is added for you, whichever sending address you use, and it does not replace your own: a reply reaches the record and your inbox.

  4. 4

No setup is required to start sending - this works immediately for new organisations.

Adding a custom from domain

  1. 1

Enter the email address you want emails to come from (e.g. hello@neighboursaid.org).

  2. 2

Optionally enter a display name (e.g. "Neighbours Aid").

  3. 3

Click "Add domain". Streams registers the domain with Resend and shows the DNS records to add.

Adding DNS records

  1. 1

Copy each record from the table (click the value to copy).

  2. 2

Sign in to your DNS provider (Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.).

  3. 3

Add each record exactly as shown: Type, Name/Host, Value, TTL, and Priority (for MX records).

  4. 4

Save the records. DNS propagation usually takes a few minutes but can take up to an hour.

Verifying the domain

  1. 1

After adding the DNS records, click "Check verification".

  2. 2

The status updates to Verified once Resend confirms all records.

  3. 3

Once verified, emails are sent from your custom domain automatically.

Removing a domain

  1. 1

Click "Remove" to deregister the domain.

  2. 2

Emails revert to sending from noreply@streamsapp.app.

  3. 3

The DNS records can be left in place or removed - they have no effect once the domain is deregistered.
